Criminal law= crime against society at large, state deals with court stuff. Tort indirectly protects public involves civil proceedings commenced and maintained by the injured party. Contract is stemmed from a breach of an agreement that were agreed upon and can only sue when contract is breached. Tort is different. obligations are general principles of law and anyone who is injured by defendants tortious actions can sue. Primary object of law originally was to prevent blood feuds.
