Control latitude/autonomy one has to organize work. 3 causes of stress: role ambiguity unclear role, role conflict competing demands, role overload insufficient time and resources. Hinderance stressors stress caused by factors that detract us from our goals. Challenge stressors stress caused by factors that generate demands but also promote individual growth. Anxiety reduction reduce the severity of stress reaction. Direct confrontation prevent the stressor from generating stress and/or a reaction. Stress the inability to control the volume of the stressors passing through your brain. Perspective outlook on life (what is really important to you) Operant learning has to be taught, because they will not do it otherwise: learns in the real environment, learns the connection between behaviour and consequences, reinforcement strengthens the connection between behaviour and consequences.
