Started as rxn to the huge shows on broadway in the 1950s and 60s: the fantasticks (1960, tom jones and harvey schmidt); 8 person show. I do, i do (1966, tom jones and harvey schmidt); 2 person show. I love my wife (1977, cy coleman and michael stewart: romance/romance (1987, keith herman and barry harrmann) All of the above shows are about normal ppl with regular lives, with a focus on love and romance and things that could be expressed on a small scale. A way for writers to get early exposure in the business.
