Clients are most often incongruent need the unconditional positivity regard the most; however, it is the most challenging. Self-worth: most activities in life strive for an acceptance from others, need to be valued and respected, involves unconditional positivity regard accepting the patient for who he/she is. Part of it is hearing, however most of it is listening. Through revealing info (from behaviours and words of clients) and through nurse"s listening, the nurse develops an understanding about a patient, and therefore more effective in caring for them. Does not depend on behaviour (in nurse-client relationship: should always compare behaviour to the circumstances they are in.
