Mill - we need diversity because it is good for us. Paradox: individual has the autonomy to undermite his or her autonomy. You own yourself and you should have to autonomy to do as you please so long as you don"t violate someone else"s autonomy. By getting good information, you enrich your autonomy. If the media is serving us well, it will provide good information and improve our autonomy.
