We are under the rule of law: our monarchy is a constitutional monarchy. Queen elizabeth can still be charged with theft if she commits a crime. Her status does not prevent her from being charged. The royal family has symbolic power: by representation and symbolism, this is the british legal tradition. The queen is important because any laws in canada receive royal acceptance. Responsible government: responsible government is answerable to the citizens who are paying the taxes, responsible government means people going out to vote, responsible government requires parliament that meets at least once every 5 years. We have elections: requires that we have citizens that participate in-between elections. Our charter is what governs our parliament and the proceedings: supreme court is asked to render a decision, they send the proposed law to the supreme court for a ruling. Supreme court will give a reason why the made their decision.
