The way we express our moral concept. Not tied to a particular identity or religion it is a universal set of values. So far, we have done private law (plaintiff and defendant) In criminal, the defendant or the accused and it is the state that prosecutes (not the plaintiff doing the suing) Criminal law = not an offence against the victim but against society. Law says you cant consent to bodily harm (there is no defense he asked me to shoot him ) Hockey people have been criminally prosecuted for their behavior in a hockey game, because there is only a certain amount of harm players consent to when they step onto the ice. R stands for regina (the queen/state) v. the accused it is the state that is involved: in the us, it is the people v. the accused. Not up to us whether the charges are put down cannot stop a criminal process.
