Discussion w/ joni baechler, former mayor of london (long serving politician) Connect students where they are and how they receive info. After watching council passed her motion for 19124 to make documentary. Shows the over sexuality of women and derogatory speech used to bring them down. Wanted to see women in positions of power. Afgahnistan, cuba, iran etc all ahead of canada. Canada is 25% or less of women in government positions. Different issues are discussed when there is a 30% representation of women. Judged upon appearance, men are as worried about this. Diversity of views enriches parliament - power sharing = democracy. Womens bodies will always been under the microscope. Focus from the media is on appearance, clothes/hair etc. Difficult for women to start families when thinking of long term in politics. Someone to encourage them and guide into politics. No women at the table = female problems are not being discussed.
