Covers 20% of world territory and 1/3 of its population. Analysts of voting behaviour try to figure out why people make the choices they do. The decision to cote is the product of a complex set of inter-related factors. Partisan identification continues to be a significant predictor of how one is likely to vote. But the likelihood of voters claiming to identify with a particular party is less today than it was a couple of generations ago. Behaviourists: rise of computing power allowed these people to take large portions of the polity and find out what motivated them to act in particular ways. If you can predict the stimulus, you can predict a response.
