Types of leadership: transactional leadership: incremental, maslow"s security (lower functions, transformational, 3 types of power. Authority (informal vs. formal: give and take with followers, leaders sometimes must follow the followers. Three (technically four) dimensions of power: structural power. Ideologies: leaves you completely blind to what"s outside that world view and therefore controls behaviour, if you could switch an ideology you can control people. Culture: links individuals with the collective identity (de nes norms), frames contexts in which politics occur, de nes boundaries with other groups, provides a framework for determining the actions and motives of others. Baratz and bachrach did a study after dahl"s called power and poverty , after taking an issue with dahl"s power claim. Two faces of power: the pluralist view (overt) and non decision making (covert) (like a coin with two faces) Dahl has a hard time accepting hunter"s point of view (from #4)
