Document Summary

Much of our thinking is based on language terms, propositions in terms of language. Before language, there are two stages of development i. e. young children processing skills etc. Children can make all sounds possible to make. (human vocal apparatus can make about 300 sounds) Two stages of babbling: typically ages 4-6 months old where infants restrict number of sounds they make, typically in response to sounds other people make. 7-11 months old where all phonemes to only exposed (restrict ourselves to the sounds that we hear, restricted to 40-50 from 300 sounds) and become increasingly speech-like. First come in about 12 months of age. Nouns, then verbs (true for most language groups, where we first learn nouns the name of things) Over extensions and then under extensions (common pattern) Two word sentences, very consistent very typical pattern (almost always nouns and verbs, indicating some developing grammar)
