Structure of the nervous system: divided into the peripheral nervous system and the central nervous system. Efferent pathways divided into two systems: somatic nervous system: Controls muscles running to internal organs and glands. Increases heart rate, blood pressure, and inhibits digestion. Autonomic nervous system divided into two systems: sympathetic division: Dominates under conditions of relaxation: parasympathetic division: Biopsychology: deals with the biological bases of our thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
