Shape constancy: ignore retinal image and create a constant image. Geons: basic shapes that make up the materials of the world. Top down processing: able to construct what it is from hypotheses. Attention is selective: we do not attend to everything. We sort out relevant material (autistic people cannot) Automatic vs controlled processing: automatic: behaviour well learned, not in awareness, controlled: behaviour is poorly learned, aware of all processes.
