His work sought to understand the causes of crime. 1899 william healey argued for the development of juvenile courts (prior to this, 12 yr old kids would go through the same trial process as a 40 yr old) 1909 healey founds juvenile psychopathic institute which taught troubled kids how to act properly in society. Prior to 1909 kids would be castrated for committing crimes (grace fernand helped end this) 1906 sigmund freud gives speech to a group of judges in which he explains psychoanalysis/personality theory can help the legal process a lot.
