Children"s problems must be considered in relation to multiple levels of influence - individual, family, community, and culture. Factors may be contained within the child or at various distances from child"s immediate surroundings. Possible causes of a child"s behavior: biological influences, emotional influences, behavioral and cognitive influences, family, cultural, and ethnic influences. Factors in each area impact and interact with the other areas. Ask about genetics they passed on to their child: there tends to be certain problems that are running in the family. Is there a biological factor that is getting in the was. This is a framework clinicians use to formulate etiology.
