Psych 2032a psychology of crime and correcions. Psychopaths have been referred to as intraspecies predators seek vulnerable vicims to use for their own beneit. Someimes charm their vicims to get what they want, other imes use violence and inimidaion. Psychopathy = personality disorder deined by a collecion of interpersonal, afecive, and behavioural characterisics, including manipulaion, lack of remorse or empathy, impulsivity, and anisocial behaviours. Impulsive and irresponsible behavioural style: the most recent factor analysis includes the aforemenioned three plus a fourth factor called anisocial. Another way of assessing for psychopathic traits is via self-report quesionnaire: advantages: Able to measure aitudes and emoions that are not easily observed by others (ex: feelings of low self-esteem) Easy to administer, quick to score, relaively inexpensive. Not necessary to worry about inter-rater reliability. Include measures of response styles to detect faking good or faking bad: disadvantages: Psychopaths oten lie will say whatever will be in their best interests.
