Humans too have an automatic pilot, that monitors the environment, draws conclusions, and directs their behavior. But people can also override this automatic type of thinking and analyze a situation slowly and deliberately. Automatic thinking: thought that is generally nonconscious, unintentional, involuntary, and effortless. People as everyday theorist: automatic thinking with schemas.
