Psychology 2070A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Blind Experiment, Shampoo, Aisle
Document Summary
Do not need to know which particular authors did a study. Did a 2 x 2 study where some people got a lower power prime, and some got a low power prime, and they change how you construe your social environment. People in positions of high power behave differently than those in low power, they make decisions faster, take more risks, have different emotions, read faces differently. If you are high power you essentially get a boost, and if you are low power, you get no boost. When they did it in their lab (erin heeray), they did it double-blind, and could not replicate the findings. And in one try they thought they were double blinding (they were using a writing technique, either writing about times when they were in high power positions or low power positions) Our automatic thinking is often lower level (effort?) thinking.
