Document Summary

Central nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord . The peripheral nervous system is located outside of the skull and spine. The peripheral nervous system consists of the somatic and autonomic nervous system . The somatic nervous system controls our body"s movement . The autonomic nervous system regulates the organs to keep us alive . Both the somatic and autonomic systems have information coming in through afferent. Afferent nerves bring in sensory information and efferent nerves send out motor information to muscles. Ex: i see cake (afferent nerves take this to cns) cns says i want that cake, get it, Cns then sends message through efferent nerves to the arm and hands. Lastly, i eat the cake after picking it up. Ex: times where you want your heart to beat faster, you"re gonna want more sympathetic nerves as they bring in more intense motor information.
