Vs psychiatric nurse: trained in medical model, bsc in nursing (4 years, spend many hours with patients. Vs social worker: ba or masters, assists i(cid:374)dividual"s groups or co(cid:373)(cid:373)u(cid:374)ities to restore or e(cid:374)ha(cid:374)ce their capacity for social functioning while creating societal conditions. How is psych unique: phd - training in research and practice, power to diagnose which is a regulated act, cannot prescribe meds, regulated, trained in assessment and therapy with serious disorders. Vs counselling psychologists: traditionally work with healthier pop, focuses on client strengths, educational and occupational, currently changing to include more private practice.
