Document Summary
Humanistic treatments: carl rogers, frankl"s logo therapy. Treatments based on learning theory: behaviour therapy assumptions. Assumptions: new behaviours can be learned, behaviour is learned and thus can be unlearned, focus on behaviour: changing maladaptive patterns of behaviour, change through operant and classical conditioning techniques, view symptoms as the problem. Applied behaviour analysis focuses on operant conditioning in the form of positive reinforcement to modify behaviour after conducting a functional behaviour assessment (fba) Cognitive behaviour therapy focuses on the thoughts and feelings behind mental health conditions with treatment plans in psychotherapy to lessen the issue. This is very different from freudian types of therapy which seek to resolve the root of the problem. Behaviour therapy is a broad term referring to psychotherapy, behaviour analytical, or a combination of the two therapies. The methods focus on either just behaviours or in combination with thoughts and feelings that might be causing them.
