Rehabilitation Sciences 3360A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Hinge Joint, Extensor Carpi Ulnaris Muscle, Musculocutaneous Nerve
Document Summary
Ulnar collateral ligament (ucl) anterior, transverse, and posterior bundle. Ulnar nerve arcade of struthers, tunnel of guyon. Carrying angle is a small degree of cubitus valgus formed between the axis of a radially deviated forearm and the axis of humerus. The carrying angle helps the arm to swing without hitting the hips while walking. The cubital fossa is a triangular area demarcated by the brachioradialis muscle laterally and the pronator teres medially. The brachial artery and its two subdivisions (the radial and ulnar arteries), the median nerve, and the musculocutaneous nerve pass through the fossa. Palpation of the medial structures: medial epicondyle. 9: extensor digiti minimi, extensor pollicis brevis, abductor pollicis longus, radial tunnel. Elbow ulnohumeral and radiohumeral joint capsular patterns and end-feels. Procedure a valgus force is applied to the joint in multiple degrees of flexion. Laxity beyond 60 o of flexion implicates the posterior bundle. Laxity in full extension indicates an olecranon or humeral fracture.
