Sociology: the systematic study of human society and social interactions. How it relates to other social institutions. How workers react to and cope with work. Work: an activity that produces a good or service for the market. However this definition excludes much of activities we generally think of work. An activity that provides a socially valued product or service. Human effort that adds use value to goods and services: it can include paid or unpaid work, formal and informal economy. The link between work and social change. Work and the conflicts surrounding work prompt social change. Work and social inequality: provides us with an income, which in turn links itself to income inequality. High income inequality (skill level, gender, age, etc. ) Service jobs are outnumbering the manufacturing and farming sectors.
