Sex and sexuality: mature females and males (refers to chromosomes and hormones) Sex: the biological distinction between females and males. Primary sex characteristics: the organs used for reproduction, namely, the genitals. Secondary sex characteristics: bodily differences, apart from the genitals, that distinguish biologically. Intersexual people: human beings with some combination of female and male characteristics: genitals, chromosomes, or hormones, highly arbitrary, aka hermaphrodites. In the past, the difference between male and female were distinct, now they are a bit more broad. Transgender: people who feel they are one sex even though biologically they are the other: *note the text calls it transsexual, use transgender instead, connection to judith butler, discrimination still exists around this issue.
