Societies: people of a particular country considered as an organized group. Social network: exchange of things (ie: emotional exchange with friends) Patterns of exchange determine boundaries of the network. Social networks & job finding granoveter (1973) Technique of what takes place in a network. Social capital: any benefit someone gets from group membership, capital you can access from people in your network, about an exchange (ie: access people in your network for jobs, spouse, networks, input, device) Human capital: quality or trait specific things (ie: talent you have, abilities to do work) Cultural capital: similar to social capital, focus on social mobility & what impacts it (ie: education, speech usually in other countries) Structures of authority tend to render people obedient. Tend to be especially efficient means of ensuring conformity. Bureaucracy: any sort of large organization clearly defined positions.
