Media is the means for connecing two or more points. Communicaion means bringing together or unifying by establishing shared meaning and understandings between individuals. Mass media means communicaion lows are unidirecional, going from a transmission point to the audience, both paries remaining anonymous. Focusses on the ownership and control of economic resources, and the efect of technology and economic power on cultural values, social structure, and poliical decision making. Muli-media chains are corporaions that own a diversiied array pf media operaions and outlets. Horizontal integraion refers to the sharing of faciliies and resources between diferent plants and outlets. Verical integraion involves the control of resources and assets at diferent stages of producion and distribuion: both of these are used to secure and enhance markeing posiions. Total published news content has been reduced due to monopolizaion. Newspapers are being challenged by the internet, but it does make it easier for people to gain access to the news.
