According to the symbolic interactionist view, people do not accept culture passively. People actively produce and interpret culture, creatively fashioning it and attaching meaning to it in accordance with their diverse needs. > culture is not a reflection of the society. This view implies that, to a degree, we are at liberty to choose how culture influences us.
