Masculinity is associated with control, reason, aggression, etc. All of these things are highly valued traits in our culture. To be feminine & to be a man is considered deviant. A way to insult a man is call him feminine. They are taken less seriously, made fun of. We do the same thing with men who teach under grade 4; really weird & arbitrary line of work. Socialization into masculinity is socialization into being a warrior" (the ideal male) Little boys" heroes are usually some variation of the warrior (they learn to fight for what they want protect use force violence perseverance) They are very muscular & tall, this has changed over the years though. Superheroes for boys is a fantasy for them of who they want to become. Is a sign of strength, bravery, defending what you have (whether that is a nation or a family or a job or your honor)
