Evolves into chieftainships, which mad the institutionalized legal system possible, there decisions were also binding. Canada utilizes common law system which is based on precedent. Power consolidated, body of law for disputes (if you died you were guilty/innocent) Kin based dispute settlement practices undermined and replaced by feudal lords and their laws. System of courts and common law replaced individual and kin- based redress. "the king views himself as the injured party" similar to the view we hold today.
