How is criminology diferent from criminal jusice: criminology understands the social aspects leasing to the crime (why, criminal jusice teaches us how our laws work, how our police structures work, etc. (what) To beter understand crime, criminal behaviour, and society"s response to it. For the news media, the rule is: if it bleeds, it leads. Fear of crime is higher than the risk of vicimizaion. There are public calls for government to ighten laws and may inluence people who are predisposed to violence. Tv coverage does not examine the social and structural reasons behind crime. The social origins of law help us understand why certain acts are considered criminals.
