Hook up culture is often celebrated as a sign of female empowerment. To say hookup culture is a win for feminism is an uneasy statement. Can celebrate it cautiously as a sign of female empowerment. Its ok to be proud of your body. Proud of my body discourse is limited; certain bodies are allowed to be proud; only certain bodies are allowed to participate in hook up culture. In hookups, men much more likely to feel "they"re glad they"ve done it" Too scared to ask for what they wanted. Orenstein: there are different scripts at play. Boys and girls have leant different things. Boys/men - linked to initiation and dominance. Girls/women - linked to passiveness and docile. Women learn a reactive version of an active male sexuality. Young men = more developed sexual script; women scripts are weaker because we are taught to be passive. Girls must become proficient in negotiating requests.
