End of the class - informal evaluation of class princess hijab discussion continued from last class - what is the relations to the identity location. Reactions: didn"t trust the artist because to appropriate the hijab is okay. Not her symbol to employ - what are locations to the material we take up. Feminist responses to appropriation is not only a taking but a taking of. Is it always tied in some way to the identity of the producer. Also gives people the opportunity to be anybody. Brings the hijab in the public sphere - allows people who don"t understand it to participate in the conversation. Reminds us of the trump trying to talk about queer communities but only protecting them from. When she is not muslim she is make a feminist statement vs. a religious statement.
