Most of these stories are all taken from the section of the odyssey which odysseus narrates. Lotus eaters: island of the lotus eaters is one of the first places odysseus and his men land. Some of his men go up to the island while odysseus stays back at the ship. The lotus eaters offer lotus plants to the men of odysseus, but as soon as they eat the lotus plants they forget who they are and what their mission is. When odysseus realizes this he takes quick action and sends people to grab the drugged members of the crew and throw them back onboard. Odysseus lands on the island of the cyclopes. They find a cave full of tons of jars of milk and good cheese. Odysseus" men urge him to leave, but he decides to stay because he wants a guest gift" (part of xenia/guest friendship). Polyphemus takes two of odysseus" men, bashes their brains out and eats them.
