How to analyze the case: reading the case quickly and efficiently. Read the opening and closing paragraphs first (two to four paragraphs: gives you an idea of what you are being asked to do or resolve, who the decision-maker is, the time period and time constraints. Familiarize yourself with the headings: know where to find information. Finally, look at the exhibits (for a few minutes), consider the information: ex. If there are financial statements, consider the financial health and situation of the organization. Should skim the case to get a rough idea; ensures the closer reading will be more focused, organized and productive. Reading the case from start to finish can result in frustration, feeling lost, and being overwhelmed by the amount of information.
