Sunlife Financial - Andre (testable material*)
- Competencies
• Eligibility - skills, knowledge, experience, education
• Suitability - attitude, behaviours, tendencies

- skills, abilities, attitudes (90%), behaviours, knowledge = results
•
Competency Iceberg
- technical competencies - easy to identify and manage
• skill, knowledge, ability
- behavioural competencies - difficult to identify and manage
• self-concept, trait, motive
- Personal Branding
• what differentiates you from other candidates - YOU are a Brand
• personal branding is what people say about you when you leave the room
(your first impression on people)
• ex. Tiger Woods - personal brand, bad image = bad brand
- net worth is 700 million today and less than 10% from winning
tournaments in golf - his brand is his income
• your image is your brand and it stays forever - your image must reflect your
company or brand, your image is accessible 30 years from now
- partying pics do not match with RBC but might match with Molson
•
What Does This Mean To YOU?
- Give yourself a personal brand
- Be a social media A.C.E
- Resumes
• 1 spelling mistake and it will be thrown in the trash - spend time
• average time looking over a resume is 5-7 seconds

• give short precise information that makes the managers ask questions
• use quantitative and qualitative data and observations as to the value

• don't explain the role or position you worked as, explain what you brought to
the role or how you improved/added value to the role
- Cover Letters
• you don't have a lot of experience, so this allows you to explain and let the
person get to know you (no spelling or grammar mistakes!)
