Chicago is used in history and philosophy. Apa in- text citation ( author surname, year) when you summarize or paraphrase (author, surname, year, page number) when you use a direct quote. Book- authors name, (year), title italicize and first letter capital, place and publisher. Journal entry- authors name, (year), title, first letter is capital and after the colon, journal name italicize, volume number, issue number, page range. Three ways in an essay: paraphrase- putting it into your own words longer then a summary, quote- direct quote from the source you"ve used, summarize- identifying the main idea and putting into into your own words. Clauses: independent which is a complete sentence, dependent is an incomplete sentence which cannot stand by itself. No subject, missing verb, missing something in the sentence.
