A valuable starting point: knowledge is cumulative. What do you want to know: general area, what do you know, what do you specifically want to know, where could you look, identify keywords, theoretical models, practical skills. Purpose of the academic/ research literature review: build argument strongly, learn from others (argument, theory, method, evidence, wtc. ) and avoid repetition, participate in a conversation/ building of knowledge, provide valuable examples, need slide. Organization of a literature review: chronological/ historical, biographical, geographical, discipline or approaches, etc, methods or designs, theoretical/ conceptual. Essentially magazines that publish peer reviewed research; dedicated to single discipline of field: canadian journals and academic presses. Does the author have sound credentials for research on this topic: publisher. How creditable is the publishing house or editor: peer review.
