Humans have been around for about 60,000 years. Certain period in story have marked different shifts and charastirics in the advancement of cultures. These have also lead to exhaustion of resources and environmental degradation. During most of our existence humans have been hunter gatherers. Survived by collecting edible plants hunting and fishing for meat. (60,000 years approx) Survived through expert understanding of their environment and surroundings. Had high infant mortality rate and life span of 30- 40 years. Average groups sizes were of 50 people for bands. Exploited and needed environmental resources to survive but their impact was limited because of their small populations and low resource use per person and the natural processes that repaired most of damage they caused. Following hunter gatherers there was a shift to reliance on agricultural and settled communities instead of traveling hunter bands.
