Environmental history in north america is divided into four eras ( pre columbian,colonial settlement, conservation and environmental) Dominated southwest of us 1,000 years ago. These communities were linked by an extensive road network. Today they are most remembered for their cliff-dwelling communities that have been protected in a series of parks from colorado to arizona. A drought caused the collapse of this civilization. Forest fire in the miramichi region of new brunswick is considered the largest in recorded history. Immigrants from scotland and ireland did not have a sense of how hot north america could be. Had limited knowledge of forest( ireland only 2% forest) Didn"t have much knowledge about fires and didn"t know how to react.
