Positive vs. negative peace: positive: international development, more difficult to achieve. Bosnia war ended 20 yrs ago, now peace; but so many are trying to leave bosnia. There"s peace, but no actual positive peace (bad economy, bad human rights protection, no democracy, etc. : negative: absence of direct violence/when there"s no tension or physical violence. The use of force in the name of peace: direct violence: literally expressing physical violence, structural violence: aimed at making other people suffer (through their lives indirect) International organizations and peace: notion of responsibility of international community to intervene or impose peace, i. e. United nations created specifically to save succeeding generations from war (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) People are fleeing conflict and are trying to cross the border. Many people cannot cross international borders and are trapped inside. Gives us a taste of the human cost of conflict.
