Generally there are 3 factors that will in uence how long it will take you to read an article. Quality of the article - well de ned purpose, clear writing, smooth ow, local organization. Focus of the article - sharp, clear focus on one particular issue or question. Knowledge of the reader - background in the eld, theoretical knowledge base. Ex: context, historical, integrative, methodological, self-study, theoretical. An annotation = brie y restate the main argument / content of the article. A bibliography = a list of research sources that appear in alphabetical order. Put them together and would you get . An annotated bibliography is a list of concise summaries from each source which are presented in alphabetical order. Think of it as your reference list in apa format, but with a short summary included before the next source is cited. What did the authors want to know / study. What did the authors think was going to happen.
