Other models concerning correct ordering of society for social harmony: duty relationships. Political islam: hierarchical but also meritocratic for scholars, deep roots in middle east (c. 700 ce onwards, muhammad as a prophet and political leader, sharia law (criminal and civil) based on ancient. Secular: not connected to or founded on religious beliefs or institution; in political terms, the separation of the church and state is teachings/holy scriptures and scholarly interpretation.
