High hypnotizability: 3 components: absorption (block everyone else out, dissociation (ability to separate from awareness, suggestibility (in class example) Effects that can be produced through hypnosis: anesthesia, sensory distortions and hallucinations, disinhibition, posthypnotic suggestions. Dissociation (hillgard): splitting off of mental process into two separate simultaneous streams: divided consciousness, highway hypnosis (where is your attention?)
