During lifespan we all change dramatically (physically, cognitively, socially, emotional etc) Changes in biological, physical, psychological and behavioral processes as we age. We study it because: helps us better understand ourselves/oneself. How much of each: continuity vs. discontinuity, gradual or stages, development is over a lifespan (or 5-7 years) Ie: research suggests that personality is born into an individual and can be slightly modified, however individual(cid:495)s maintain that trait: no change, remains constant, straight line, continuous, gradual changes, change merges nicely, gradual curved line. Ie: personality of a child, temperament gradually developed into adulthood (this is for a typical developing child: stages, discontinuous changes, rigid staircase, discrete stages, something is different about each stage, see a jump, inverted u-shape.
