En 1001 c introduction to the study of literature. Selected contemporary women poets: deconstruction, intertextuality and re-invention. This week"s readings bring us back to some of the thematic and stylistic issues we examined in homer"s. We are again with poetry, with the poet"s voice, with issues of diction and rhythm. Odyssey, this week"s poems are about travel, exile, wandering, obstacles and adversity. However, the contemporary poets we are reading, p. k. page, adrienne rich, dionne brand, and. Priscilla uppal, are not so much engaged with starting or reaffirming a tradition, in so far as we can assume that this was homer"s case. These poets often speak in the first person.
