Document Summary

Memory is learning that persists over time; information that is acquired and stored and retrieved. Recall-retrieving information that is not currently in conscious awareness but was learned at an earlier time. Relearning- measure of memory assess the amount of time saved when relearning. You learning something faster when u learn it a second time ex study for exam. An information processing model likens human memory to computer memory. Encoding is the process of information into the memory system or our brain. Storage is retaining that encoded info over time. Retrieval is later getting that info back again from memory storage. Parallel processing is processing many aspects of a problem simultaneously; the brains natural mode of information processing for functioning may be done unconsciously. Connectionism views memories as by-products of interconnected neural networks. Specific memories arise from particular activation patterns within these networks. Every time something new is learned new neural pathways are formed or are changed.
