Document Summary

Learning ground rules of the society is among the tasks children need to do - with moral standards. Very few universal standards - expressed differently in different cultures and religions. All groups are likely to regulate aggression among their own group and not condoning murder within their own group. Moral conduct, the behaviour - highly correlated intellectual development, high self esteem, planning and decision making. They know what the rules are, but don"t internalize it so don"t apply it. They don"t evaluate their behaviour, or impulses to behave against the rules - requires metacognition, and if you are not using it, then you can"t feel guilty about it when you do something that is wrong. Identification and moral development - not favoured theory. What it isn"t the favoured theory: (aside from the fact there is no empirical evidence- There would be a huge influence of the peers on the kids in the later years.
