The aim of psychoanalysis is to figure out what goes on in the unconscious recesses of the mind; sigmund freud created it; complex theory. No other psychological approach is as influential as freud"s. Medical doctor who practiced in vienna, austria; began his career as a neurologist then moved onto psychiatry. Early in his clinical practice he made a fundamental discovery: when his patients talked about their psychological problems, sometimes that was enough to cure or help them. First he used hypnosis; then turned to free association: saying whatever came to mind. One of his patients dubbed the results of such therapy the talking cure". Freud attracted many whom he encouraged to help spread this idea: carl jung and alfred adler. His ideas came from his patients and his observations of his own mind themselves: both begin the psychological endeavor with the attempt to know.
