Glossary of terms and concepts (this glossary has been developed to assist students in sosc1510 it offers definitions relevant to our course on the future of work, but should be treated as a work in progress. The ccce is a business association composed of 150 ceo"s from top transnational corporations. It is the most powerful interest group in the country, the voice of big business, the spokesperson for corporate globalization. As the chief architect of the neo- liberal agenda, the council has been setting the agenda for canadian politics since 1976, pushing for free trade and less government. It has also been the major force pushing for closer (economic) integration with the united states and the removal of all barriers to trade and investment. The ceo"s quest to make their companies more profitable requires them to be more competitive in world markets, which in turn prompts them to lower costs, remove regulations and lower taxes.
