Although he did not have formal academic training as an architect yet. Le corbusier is regarded as the most inspiring architects and urban designer. Le corbusier taught himself by going to the library architecture + philosophy. Concerned with problems he saw in industrial cities at the turn of the 20th century. Industrial housing techniques caused crowding, dirtiness and the lack of moral landscape. Leader of the modernist movement to create better living condition + better society through housing. Plans and ideas were adopted by builders of public housing in europe and the us. In the uk urban planner turned to le corbusier"s cities in the sky as a cheaper method of building public housing from the late 1950s. He harmonized and lent credence to the idea of space as a set of destination between which mankind moved continuously. He gave credibility to the automobiles as transporter based to freeways in urban spaces.
